About the School

Our School:

Hillcrest High School (HHS) is the only high school in the Conecuh County School System that serves students 9th-12th grade. Students feed into HHS from Thurgood Marshall Middle School(6th-8th), Conecuh County Junior High Schools (K4-8th), Lyeffion Junior High School (K4-8th), and Repton Junior High School (K4-8th). Hillcrest is located at 1989 Jaguar Drive in Evergreen, Alabama.

Our Community:

The city of Evergreen is located in a rural area of South Alabama and consists of approximately 4000 residents. The city recently completed construction of a new court house which serves Conecuh County. Evergreen features an Industrial Park and a recreational facility with picnic areas, tennis courts, baseball fields and softball fields. The local Country Club offers opportunities for swimming and golf. Reid State Technical College is located in Evergreen off I-65 which is in close proximity to the new economical development area. 

Enrollment and Staff:

Enrollment in 2014-2015 is at 397 students, which is an increase of 19 from the previous school year. The Average Daily Attendance (ADA) at HHS has increased over the past three school years. 2010-2011 ADA- 93.9%, 2011-2012 ADA-95.19%, 2012-2013- ADA 95.03%, 2013-2014- 99.21%.

The staff is comprised of 1 principal, 1 assistant principal, 1 part-time instructional supervisor, 28 regular education teachers, 4 special education teachers, 1 counselor, 1 library media specialist, 5 paraprofessionals, 1 receptionist, 1 registrar, 1 bookkeeper, and 3 custodians.

Our Mission:

The mission of Hillcrest High School is the goal of PLAN 2020: EVERY CHILD A GRADUATE. EVERY GRADUATE PREPARED FOR COLLEGE/WORK/ADULTHOOD IN THE 21ST CENTURY.

HHS  is embodying this mission through increasing the rigor of the courses taught at HHS, no longer accepting bare minimum proficiency from its students, focusing students on thoughts and preparations for life after high school.

The school system's vision is STARS, Students and Teachers Achieving Remarkable Success, which directs the focus for Conecuh County Schools to provide challenging and innovative learning experiences in our instructional program.

This belief supports and clarifies the mission of providing educational opportunities that will lead to student success system-wide.

The Mission

Conecuh County Schools has the mission of ensuring that we create a culture of confident, diverse, and innovative learners in high educational settings.  We aim to advance forward and move higher in a climate that encourages growth and prepares leaderes to reach their fullest potential to excel in college, career, and life.  One aspect of meeting the vision is providing a curriculum that encompasses the needs of all student--academically, socially, and emotionally.
