Clubs and Organizations
The purpose of the Distinguished Gentlemen Group is to assist young men transition into future men, leaders, fathers, and productive citizens in his community, city, state, and country. Through this club topics on body changes, how to date a young lady, the importance of being a positive image in the community, how to treat women and be respectful towards adults, women and individuals in leadership positions. Emphasis on skills, such as public speaking, filling out a job application, how to dress, tying a tie and how to conduct yourself in an interview, and the importance of personal hygiene. The Distinguished Gentlemen Group is open to all 9th through 12 grade males.
The Hillcrest Band is one of the premier organizations in our school. It ties in with Southside Preparatory Magnet Academy (S.P.M.A.) and Thurgood Marshall Middle School which makes for a smooth transition into the high school. The band is known for creating an energetic environment at football and basketball games, but also provides support for all community activities in Evergreen and County wide. The band students serve as ambassadors of Evergreen everywhere we go. If you are looking for a group that travels and does exciting things, then look no further, the Hillcrest Band is the way to go. A danceline is a high spirited and dynamic group of dancers that perform at various events. These talented dancers showcase their skills and adding flair to school functions. They entertain the audience with synchronized dance routines, often incorporating elements of jazz, hip-hop, and kick line styles. Dancelines learn choreographed routines that showcase their technical skills, precision, and creativity. They receive training in dance techniques, teamwork, and performance quality.
Hillcrest Jaguarettes
The National Beta Club is designed to encourage student academic growth, along with increasing students' awareness of community needs. Students who are members of the National Beta Club must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, void of discipline referrals, and pay a one-time registration fee of $32.00. This club is open to all 9th, 10th and 11th grade students who meet the criteria, here at Hillcrest High School.
The Student Ambassador Program provides a bridge for new students as they make their transition to High School and assist in the academic setting. The Ambassadors serve as the welcoming committee. ushers, and guides for all HHS events and any community events that request their assistance. The implementation of the program is to help in the development of future leaders. The goal of the Student Ambassador Program is to provide and prepare students to become successful leaders in the community and beyond and to encourage students to embrace new challenges as they prepare for a career. Students wanting to join must be respectful, responsible, and resourceful young ladies and gentlemen at all times.
